内容简介(英文): The author of "Homecoming Ode", T'ao Yüan-ming, appears here returning home in a boat with a pot of his favorite flowers-chrysanthemums. Other illustrations show T'ao standing at the front of a boat in the wind with his hand raised to those waiting for him. Here, however, he is shown seated. The willow trees in the wind express the idea of "The boat rocks in the light breeze" and the people coming out of the building reflect the "attendants greeting." Thus, this painting still reveals the joy expressed by T'ao in his ode on returning home. Lu T'an-wei was an important transitional painter known for his figural and narrative themes. This work, though not by Lu, perhaps dates from after the 13th century. 内容简介(英文): Tao Yuanming (365-427) decided not to be a slave to his official’s salary of 5 pecks of rice, so he left office and wrote “Returning Home” to express his ambitions. This work depicts the first part (“Let me return home! My fields will become desolate.”) to “The paths were filled with weeds, but the pines and chrysanthemums were still there.” Here, Tao has picked his favorite flower, the chrysanthemum, and is in a boat as family members come out to greet him, depicting “Lightly my boat rocked back and forth” and “Welcoming servants all came out as children waited at the gate.” Lu Tanwei was a painter of the Liu-Song era who excelled at figure and narrative subjects. The style of this work, however, probably dates to the 13th century or later.(20091016)
