Kuan-yin, wearing an opulent crown with a seated Buddha, is adorned with all sorts of jewels and is covered with a semitransparent cloth. The coloring is rich and the portrayal quite delicate and fine; no detail of the clothing pattern has been left out. Furthermore, the exposed parts of the body have all been rendered with washes, imparting a sense of volume to the figure. Although the signature of Ting Yün-p'eng appears along the middle lower right border, the style indicates that it was probably done by a later painter of the 17th or 18th century working from an older model. Thus, the signature of Ting Yün-p'eng was added at a later date.
