He later expanded his repertoire to include the styles from the Sung and Yüan, developing a distinctive style and a fine sense of coloring. This hanging scroll consists of 3 leaves that perhaps originally formed part of an album that was later mounted together. In the upper leaf, distant mist-covered mountains dashed in ink frame a shoal-filled riverbank. The central leaf depicts high mountains in a foreground scene; a distant village and bamboo grove are visible between the mountains to suggest deep distance. In the bottom leaf, a rocky slope and temple fill one corner as meandering shoals criss-cross an expanse of water.
