His style name was Shu-ming; his sobriquet Huang-ho shan-ch’iao. As the grandson of Chao Meng-fu, he was able to achieve Chao’s method and further to establish his own style.Amid serried peaks and dense forests a guest crosses a small bridge to the small village nestled in this remote valley. The steep verticality and layers of village houses in the mountains accentuate the spatial depth. Throughout the painting a wet upright brush is cmployed, with a particular nervousness seen in the hair-like texture strokes of the rocks.
